Saint Louis University, a Jesuit Catholic institution dedicated to education, research, healthcare and service, seeks applicants for the inaugural John Foley Visiting Professor of Liturgical Studies. Applicants should be well-versed in the Roman Catholic intellectual tradition and should have an active research agenda in liturgical studies or be engaged in a research project where liturgy (or the history of liturgy) plays a significant role. The Visiting Professorship can be from one to three months, beginning no earlier than 1 May and no later than 1 October 2015. The successful candidate must be resident at Saint Louis University for the entire period. The Visiting Professorship includes a stipend of $4,000 per month (to a maximum of $12,000), funds to supplement housings costs ($75 per day to a maximum of 90 days), and $1,000 for research expenses. Return airfare (up to $1,500) will also be provided. S/He will be a member of the Department of Theological Studies and will have faculty status in the Center for Catholic Studies.
The successful candidate will receive office space, a networked computer and access to the University Library. The Pius XII Memorial Library contains one of the finest divinity libraries in the Mid-west United States which is supplemented by extensive electronic resources. The library has extensive special collections in Jesuitica, early printed books from Europe and around 40,000 pre-modern and early modern manuscripts (on microfilm) from the Vatican Library and other European repositories.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Theological Studies or an equivalent degree and have a strong record of publication.
